Mr.Huang Xin’s Calligraphy Works will be exhibited at the National Museum of China
“Motherland China – Arts and Calligraphy Exhibition of Global Oversea Chinese” is jointly sponsored by Oversea Chinese Union, Chinese Liberal Arts Union, Chinese Artists Association and Chinese Calligraphers Association. The mission is to promote Chinese culture, enhance cultural exchange and exhibit art works created in recent years by oversea Chinese artists, painters and calligraphers. This event received enthusiastic support and active participation from Chinese artists around the world. Within 4 months, more than 3000 art pieces from domestic and 39 oversea countries were received by the committee.
Judging results were announced on August 29, 2012. A total 83 Excellence art works and 193 Finalist art works were chosen for exhibition. Five Screen calligraphy masterpiece “Su Shi’s poem • Remembering Dongpo”, by our Houston artist Huang Xin, was one of the winners and will be exhibited at the National Museum of China from Sept 14 to Sept 20, 2012. In addition to all the winning entries, 39 by invitation only art works from master artists such as Ouyang Shi, Huang Yong Yu and Fan Tzeng will also be showcased in this exhibition.
Mr. Huang received his Ph.D. in geophysics from University of Toronto, Canada in 1996. He is an active member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists USA. During college years, he was a member of Peking University Student Calligraphy Association. He is a permanent member of Ontario Chinese Artists Association in Canada and actively exhibits his calligraphy works. Mr. Huang has received numerous awards in various calligraphy contests. He teaches calligraphy in the Chinese community and promotes calligraphy to both Chinese and American in Houston area.
